CNC Programmer

SUMMARY
Plans computerized numerical control program (CNC) to control contour path machining of metal parts on automatic machine tools by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsible for layout and flat development of precision sheetmetal from 2-d drawings and 3-d data base.

Creates 2-d drawings using drafting software.

Define individual planes from 3-d data base, to create a flat pattern using unfolding software.

Programs Amada Turret Presses and Mitsubishi C02 Lazer using computer.

Assists in the manufacturing process through interface with other production departments thoughout the organization.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, or customer specifications.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Must have ability to do flat blank layout.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be computer literate and have the ability to utilize Metalsoft CAD CAM Programming Software, CADKey, and Draft/Pak.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of radiation. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  Hearing protection may be required.
